Sky Arte's 'In compagnia del lupo' explores dark side of Bluebeard
The new series 'In compagnia del lupo. Il cuore nero delle fiabe', hosted by Carlo Lucarelli, returns to Sky Arte on Monday 22 February. The episode focuses on the dark side of Bluebeard, the character narrated by Charles Perrault. It traces the historical figure Gilles de Rais, who was executed on 26 October 1440 at age 36 for murdering hundreds of young boys, often after abusing them. De Rais was a wealthy heir, national hero at the siege of Orléans, companion of Joan of Arc, and Marshal of France. His story merged with Breton ballads and folk tales, becoming the basis for Perrault's Bluebeard, a rich cruel man who kills his wives. The series is produced by Sky Arte, with content powered by Artribune.
