Sky Arte's Artbox explores Mastroianni, Bulgakov, and Levi's collaboration

other · 2026-05-04

The new episode of Artbox on Sky Arte, airing Thursday, February 14, opens at the Museo dell'Ara Pacis in Rome with the exhibition 'Marcello Mastroianni ‒ Una vita tra parentesi,' focusing on the actor's life and career. The myth is evoked by Riccardo Scamarcio, curator Gian Luca Farinelli, and Mastroianni's last partner Anna Maria Tatò, who contributed two excerpts from the film-interview 'Mi ricordo, sì, io mi ricordo.' The episode then moves to the Piccolo Teatro Grassi in Milan for a stage adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's satirical sci-fi novel 'Heart of a Dog,' adapted by Stefano Massini, directed by Giorgio Sangati, and starring Paolo Pierobon and Sandro Lombardi. Written in 1925, the story follows the transformation of the dog Pallino into a human and then into 'Citizen Pallinov,' questioning societal conventions, truth, and lies. The segment concludes at the Tepidarium del Roster in Florence, transformed into an immersive installation for the relaunch of Levi's Engineered Jeans. During the 95th edition of Pitti Uomo, the 1880 architectural masterpiece by Giacomo Roster is dyed red to evoke Levi's history.
