Sky Arte's Artbox explores cosmic time, Blackout exhibition, and Tullio Regge

The Sky Arte HD series Artbox, airing Thursday 8 March, delves into the vastness of cosmic time beyond human existence. The episode, presented at the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Milano among fossils and extinct species, opens with a focus on 'Blackout', the exhibition by US-Puerto Rican duo Allora & Calzadilla at the Maxxi in Rome. Their sculptures, videos, and performances envision a future where humanity and oil civilization leave only relics. The show also covers the archaeological sites of Herculaneum and Pompeii, buried by volcanic material, whose excavations starting in 1738 spurred Neoclassicism and archaeological tourism, as explored at the Museo m.a.x. in Chiasso. Finally, concepts of space-time and relativity, highlighting human finitude, are addressed in an exhibition at the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino dedicated to scientist Tullio Regge.
