Sky Arte premieres documentary on Berengo glass furnace in Murano
The documentary 'Berengo – The Master of the Glass Renaissance' will premiere on Sky Arte on Thursday, October 3, directed by Roberta Altavilla and Tommaso Giusto, who also handled editing and screenplay together with Massimiliano Salino. The film follows Adriano Berengo through his furnace on Murano, an island synonymous with glass art since the 12th century, and showcases luxury hotels displaying works by global artists such as Sean Scully, Thomas Schütte, Tony Cragg, Tracey Emin, and Laure Prouvost. It also features the creation of 'Commedia Umana', a monumental piece by Ai Weiwei exhibited at the Museo Nazionale – Terme di Diocleziano in Rome. Over 300 internationally renowned artists have collaborated with Berengo, revitalizing Murano's image. The documentary includes testimonies from artists highlighting Berengo's ability to realize dreams from glass, a fragile and expressive material that, according to Berengo, can only be worked by hand.
