Sky Arte Marks 50 Years of Woodstock with Documentaries

Sky Arte celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock festival by airing two documentaries on August 15. The first, 'Come Together – From Woodstock to Coachella' directed by Charlie Thomas, explores the origins and evolution of music festivals, featuring archival footage from Monterey, Woodstock, Coachella, and Isle of Wight. The second, 'Jimi Hendrix Live at Woodstock,' presents a remastered version of Hendrix's performance with his band Gypsy Sun & Rainbow, including Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, Juma Sultan, Jerry Valez, and Larry Lee. Throughout the day, episodes of 'Rock Legends' will highlight artists like Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Who, and Neil Young. The festival, held August 15–18, 1969, became a defining moment for the hippie counterculture and rock history.
