Sky Arte Festival transforms MADRE courtyard into open-air cinema in Naples

The Sky Arte Festival brings free outdoor cinema to the MADRE – Museo d'arte contemporanea Donnaregina in Naples on May 6–7, 2017. The museum's courtyard becomes an open-air cinema screening four Sky 3D productions in collaboration with Sky Arte HD. The program opens on May 6 at 9 PM with 'Firenze e gli Uffizi 3D,' winner of the 2016 Nastro d'Argento, narrated by artist Simon Merrels and featuring aerial footage by helicopter and drones. The film showcases Florence's landmarks including the Cappella Brancacci, Museo del Bargello, Santa Maria del Fiore, Brunelleschi's Dome, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Uffizi Gallery, presented by former director Antonio Natali (2006–2015). On May 6 at 10:45 PM and May 7 at 10:45 PM, 'Musei Vaticani 3D – Tra cielo e terra' screens, guided by former director Antonio Paolucci (until 2016). Shot in Ultra HD 4K/3D, it features Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel frescoes. On May 7 at 9 PM, 'San Pietro e le Basiliche Papali di Roma 3D' screens, a box-office hit recognized by MiBACT as a work of cultural interest. The 90-minute film covers St. Peter's, San Giovanni in Laterano, Santa Maria Maggiore, and San Paolo Fuori le Mura, with readings from Stendhal's 'Passeggiate Romane' by Adriano Giannini. The production is a joint effort by Sky 3D and CTV.
