Sky Arte documentary 'Tiziano. L'impero del colore' airs August 28

On August 28, Sky Arte will broadcast the documentary 'Tiziano. L'impero del colore,' directed by Giulio Boato and Laura Chiossone, produced by Sky, Kublai Film, Zetagroup, Gebrueder Beetz, and Arte ZDF. The film explores the life and work of Titian (Tiziano Vecellio), who died on August 27, 1576, focusing on about fifty works including religious compositions, mythological scenes, portraits, and Venuses. The documentary uses close-up camera work to reveal the texture of the paint and the thickness of brushstrokes, filmed in their current locations in churches and museums across Europe. It also highlights Venice's decisive role in Titian's career. The project includes contributions from specialists and contemporary figures such as artist Jeff Koons. The subject was developed by Lucia Toso and Marco Panichella, with supervision by Donato Dallavalle. Chiossone describes Titian as a painter who conquered all of Europe and achieved success, fame, and wealth through his art.
