Sky Arte documentary revisits Nick Drake's legacy 50 years after his death

Sky Arte will air "Nick Drake – Songs in a conversation" on November 25, 2024, exactly 50 years after the singer-songwriter's death at age 26. Directed by Roberto Angelini and Rodrigo D'Erasmo (violinist and guitarist of Afterhours), the documentary features contributions from Italian artists including Manuel Agnelli, Niccolò Fabi, and Adele Nigro, who reinterpret Drake's songs and discuss his impact on contemporary music. The film includes an unpublished testimony from John Wood, the sound engineer who recorded all three of Drake's albums. Through live performances and commentary from critics and colleagues, the documentary explores how Drake's introspective lyrics, enveloping guitar melodies, and rejection of public consensus made his music an exception in the recording industry.
