Sky Arte documentary on Heysel memorial by Luca Vitone

A new documentary titled 'Verso altrove' premieres on Sky Arte on May 29, 2025, marking the 40th anniversary of the Heysel Stadium disaster. On May 29, 1985, 39 people (32 Italian) died and hundreds were injured before the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool in Brussels. The film, produced by Juventus Creator Lab, follows the creation of a public art memorial at Continassa near the Allianz Stadium in Turin. The project was curated by the late Luca Beatrice and realized by Genoese artist Luca Vitone. The artwork, also called 'Verso Altrove,' is a spiral ramp rising eight meters through a green clearing planted with Ginkgo Biloba trees, symbolizing resilience and memory. The documentary includes interviews with Paolo Garimberti, president of Juventus Museum, and Beatrice, who died shortly after his interview. It covers the construction process and explores themes of collective mourning and rebirth.
