Sky Arte documentary marks Gianni Rodari's centenary with paper sets and animated graphics
Sky Arte has produced a documentary titled "C'era due volte Gianni Rodari" to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Gianni Rodari, one of Italy's most beloved children's authors. The film airs on Friday, October 23, and explores both the well-known Rodari and a lesser-known side: a civil author, shy yet authentically popular, highly cultured but never complex, driven by a moral tension embodied in play, fun, utopia, and above all fantasy. The documentary uses Rodari's own words—letters, articles, diaries, nursery rhymes—read by actor Neri Marcorè within a set made entirely of paper. Guests contribute memories, while music by Rodrigo D'Erasmo and animated graphics evoke the magic and fantasy of Rodari's stories. The Sky Arte website is powered by Artribune, which manages its content and digital interface.
