Sky Arte Documentary Honors Female Partisans on Liberation Day
On April 25, Italy's Liberation Day, Sky Arte broadcasts the documentary "Partigiane 2.0. La libertà ha sempre vent'anni," directed by Malina De Carlo. The film highlights the role of "biciclettiste"—women who transported weapons and messages by bicycle during the Resistance—and connects their stories to contemporary activists. It features interviews with former partisans Laura Wronowski, Ebe Bavestrelli, and Dina Croce, alongside young "partigiane 2.0" Ilaria Laise and Cecilia Gnocchi, who restore partisan plaques in Milan. The documentary also recounts the experiences of Tina Anselmi, Oriana Fallaci, and Genni Weigmann Mutti. Produced by Associazione Chiamale Storie and Sky Arte as part of the memoMI project, it is realized by 3D Produzioni with support from the Comune di Milano and Fondazione Pasquinelli. A concurrent competition invites proposals for an artistic installation in Milan's Piazza Donne Partigiane, to be inaugurated after the health emergency, in collaboration with ANPI Provinciale, the Order of Architects of Milan, and the Istituto Lombardo di Storia Contemporanea.
