Sky Arte documentary explores Hugo Pratt's love for Argentina

A documentary titled 'Hugo in Argentina' will air on Sky Arte on Sunday, March 19, 2023. Directed by Stefano Knuchel and narrated by Giancarlo Giannini, the film follows Italian comic artist Hugo Pratt as he arrives in Buenos Aires in 1950, initially aiming to reach the United States but instead finding his America in Argentina. The country's economic boom and vibrant cultural scene captivated the young immigrant, whose name would soon become famous. The documentary features interviews with Pratt's daughter Marina, friend and collaborator Oscar Smoje, Martín Oesterheld (grandson of writer Héctor Oesterheld, author of 'The Eternaut'), former student and cartoonist Gianni Dalfiume, young designer and fileteado expert Gustavo Ferrari, and Gisela Dester, Pratt's previously undisclosed love. Unpublished archives and 1950s footage reveal a thriving Argentina, while the original tango 'Cabezita de Cristal', written by Pratt and performed by Argentine singer Marián Farías Gómez, sets the rhythm.
