Sky Arte Documentary Explores Gradus Theatre Experiment

Sky Arte will premiere the documentary 'Gradus in scena' on Sunday, May 17, focusing on the Gradus project initiated by the Reggio Parma Festival. The film, produced by TIWI in collaboration with Made in Tomorrow, documents a unique European theatre experiment that asks: 'Why make theatre today?' It follows four teams of artists under 35 from around the world, selected through a process of meetings, residencies, and workshops led by established contemporary masters. The teams are: Maria Vincenza Cabizza and Lisa Capaccioli (89 Seconds to Midnight), Marilena Katranidou and Apostolis Koutsogiannis (L'ultimo amore del Principe Genji), Mihai Codrea and Sânziana Dobrovicescu (Il sole s'era levato al suo colmo), and Gaetano Palermo and Fernando Strasnoy (Ouverture). The documentary explores the development of their original performances, reflecting artistic visions and contemporary urgencies, while highlighting the enthusiasm and doubts of each creative journey. A new call for the Gradus project is currently open, seeking individuals or creative teams with recognizable artistic paths in dramaturgy, musical composition, theatre and opera directing and set design, or choreography.
