Sky Arte Documentary Explores Banksy's Career and Mystery

It traces Banksy's origins in Bristol's underground scene, with his first graffiti and street art works dating back to 1990. The film covers his politicized art, subversive epigrams, and audacious incursions that challenged the establishment and sparked a revolutionary movement. Banksy is now the world's most famous and controversial street artist, addressing issues like abuse of power, poverty, political and religious fundamentalisms, alienation, war, violence, and capitalism. For the first time, the documentary comprehensively narrates his career from young underground artist to the most famous artist of the 21st century, despite his identity remaining mysterious. Inspired by 1970s New York graffiti, Banksy transformed street art into a mainstream form, building a multimillion-dollar empire and altering the very concept of art.
