Sky Arte documentary celebrates Gian Paolo Barbieri's photography

On Sunday, December 28, Sky Arte will broadcast the documentary "Gian Paolo Barbieri, l'uomo e la bellezza," directed by Emiliano Scatarzi and based on a subject by Federica Masin and Scatarzi. The film traces the life and five-decade career of the renowned Italian photographer, from his beginnings in Rome to his peak in the 1970s-1990s, and his later years marked by the founding of the Fondazione Gian Paolo Barbieri and his battle with an incurable illness. Combining archival materials—including his fashion shoots, personal images, and footage—with interviews from collaborators, the documentary explores the worlds that inspired him: theater, cinema, art, and fashion. Barbieri photographed iconic figures such as Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, and Monica Bellucci. The documentary offers a portrait of a man driven by a constant search for beauty.
