Sky Arte Documentary Celebrates Achille Castiglioni's Centenary

Sky Arte is airing a documentary on Achille Castiglioni, one of Italy's most iconic designers, on December 2, 2018, to mark the centenary of his birth. Titled 'Achille Castiglioni ‒ Tutto con un niente,' the film is based on an extensive, largely unpublished interview conducted in 1999 at his Milan studio in Piazza Castello. Surrounded by his designs and a vast collection of toys, Castiglioni discusses his career with humor and generosity. The documentary highlights his critical observation of reality, innovative solutions, and playful spirit. It also explores his collaborations with brothers Livio and Piergiacomo, and later solo work. His daughter Giovanna provides insights into his enduring legacy, while architect Patricia Urquiola, a former student, contributes as a guide to the Fondazione and the ongoing homage exhibition at Triennale Milano. Castiglioni's Arco lamp, designed in 1962, remains the most famous and copied furniture piece globally.
