Sky Arte dedicates Friday night to Mike Nichols documentary

Sky Arte HD will air the documentary 'Mike Nichols – Un laureato a Hollywood' on Friday, July 8, as a tribute to the Berlin-born director who died in 2014. The film, produced by Frank Rich and Jack O'Brien and directed by Douglas McGrath, is based on a long conversation between Nichols and O'Brien, recorded on stage at Broadway's Golden Theatre over two days. It covers Nichols' early career as a sketch performer in the 1950s, his deep bond with actress Elaine May, and his directorial breakthrough in the mid-1960s with 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' and 'The Graduate', which won him an Oscar for Best Director. The documentary was shot just months before Nichols' death and serves as his artistic testament, spanning his childhood to fame and friendships with Walter Matthau, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and Dustin Hoffman.
