Sky Arte dedicates Friday night to dance with Mr. Gaga and Nureyev documentaries

other · 2026-05-05

On Friday, July 7, Sky Arte HD will air a dance-themed evening featuring two documentaries. The first, 'Mr. Gaga – Anima e corpo di un genio della danza' directed by Tomer Heymann, focuses on choreographer Ohad Naharin, creator of the 'Gaga' movement method. It traces his career from early performances with Martha Graham and Maurice Béjart to his role as artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company. The second film, 'Nureyev – Danza per la libertà', is a docu-drama covering the four months leading up to Rudolf Nureyev's defection at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport on June 16, 1961. The story is told through the perspectives of those close to him: ballerina Alla Osipenko, rival Sergei Vikulov, friend Clara Saint, and dancer-choreographer Pierre Lacotte.
