Sky Arte dedicates evening to Edvard Munch on recovery anniversary

On Saturday, August 31, 2024, Sky Arte will air a special evening dedicated to Edvard Munch, coinciding with the anniversary of the recovery of two stolen masterpieces. The program begins with an episode of the series Art Crimes titled "Munch: Oslo 1994," which recounts the 1994 theft of The Scream. This is followed by the documentary "Munch – Amori, Fantasmi e Donne Vampiro," starting from his birthplace Åsgårdstrand. The evening concludes with the episode "Munch Museum Oslo" from the series Art of Museum, featuring Norwegian writer Karl Ove Knausgård guiding viewers through the museum housing Munch's masterpieces. The broadcast marks 20 years since the 2004 theft of The Scream and Madonna from an Oslo museum, which were recovered on August 31, 2006. Munch will also be the subject of an upcoming exhibition opening in Milan in mid-September.
