Sky Arte dedicates a night to street art with Banksy, Basquiat, and graffiti writers

On Sunday, September 30, Sky Arte will air a special evening focused on street art, starting with the documentary "Banksy does New York." The film, directed by Chris Moukarbel, follows Banksy during his October 2013 "artist residency" in New York, where he unveiled a new work daily across the city, from Queens to Staten Island, Bushwick to the Lower East Side. The documentary incorporates YouTube videos and social media photos from those who tracked the elusive artist. Following that, "Basquiat ‒ Un ribelle a New York" examines Jean-Michel Basquiat's brief but impactful career, highlighting how his work transformed New York's art scene in the 1980s by rejecting minimalism and blending personal life with raw creativity, influenced by Andy Warhol. The night concludes with "Graffiti a New York," written and directed by Francesco Mazza and hosted by Federico Buffa. It explores the graffiti writing movement that began in the late 1960s, with Buffa interviewing pioneering writers such as Taki 183, T-Kid, Sharp, Lady Pink, Jon Nar, and Coco 144, some appearing publicly for the first time.
