Sky Arte dedicates a day to photography for World Photo Day

Sky Arte HD will celebrate World Photo Day on August 19 with a special programming lineup starting in the late afternoon. The broadcast begins with four episodes from the latest season of Master of Photography, a talent show offering the world's largest photography prize of €150,000. Viewers will follow twelve contestants from across Europe as they face weekly challenges judged by Oliviero Toscani, Darcy Padilla, and Caroline Hunter. A focus on Toscani precedes the prime-time documentary Alla ricerca di Vivian Maier, about the American street photographer discovered posthumously by real estate agent John Maloof. Later, the season two finale of Master of Photography, titled Racconto di un popolo, airs. Finalists must present three to five photos taken in twelve hours depicting an ethnic minority in Europe or the Mediterranean, guided by Steve McCurry. The day concludes with the documentary Robert Doisneau – La lente delle meraviglie, directed by his granddaughter Clémentine Deroudille, featuring archival images, interviews, and rare footage of the photographer who died in 1994.
