SKIRA Opens First Italian Boutique in Milan

publication · 2026-04-26

SKIRA, the international art and culture publisher, has opened its first Italian boutique in Milan at Via Meravigli 18, near the Duomo. The bookshop, which opened in late 2024, specializes in illustrated art, photography, architecture, and lifestyle books, offering both new releases and out-of-print collector's editions, along with a selection of art objects and limited editions. The location has a rich history: it housed the Libreria Milanese from 1975, which led to the founding of the Meravigli publishing house in 1976. The bookstore closed in 2015, but Meravigli continues. Other cultural tenants on Via Meravigli include Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia (left in 2020) and the Associazione culturale Biblioteca Famiglia Meneghina (evicted in 1989). TASCHEN opened its first Italian store at Via Meravigli 17 in 2015, designed by Marc Newson and Jonas Wood. SKIRA's Milan boutique, under CEO Catherine Castillon (since 2023), hosts events: during Art Week 2025, it featured Nico Vascellari's boops tied to his show at Palazzo Reale; for Design Week 2025, Atelier Biagetti installed the space for the tenth anniversary of its trilogy (GOD, NO SEX, BODY BUILDING). On May 18, 2025, Denise Wendel-Poray will sign copies of the Vicky & Marcos Micha Levy Collection catalog.
