Sketch the Dome: Instagram contest for Brunelleschi's Florence Cathedral dome

To mark 600 years since the competition for the dome of Florence's Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore has launched a digital contest on Instagram. In 1418, the original competition was won by Filippo Brunelleschi, who beat Lorenzo Ghiberti to design the iconic dome. Now, the institution invites Instagram users to create digital artworks inspired by the dome using the Autography app. Participants must download the app from Google Play or Apple Store and submit drawings, messages, poems, or other creative content via the dedicated website and their Instagram profile with hashtags #SketchTheDome and #MuseoDuomoFi. The contest runs until May 31, 2018. From June 1, 2018, the Opera's staff will select winners based on coherence with the theme, quality, and originality. Winners will be contacted by email and announced on the Opera's channels. Their works will be temporarily exhibited at one of the Opera's venues, with an official inauguration expected in September 2018.
