Skate Muzik and 108 Launch Unique Skateboard Art in Milan
Skate Muzik, a radio program founded by Gianluca Quagliano in 2015, has launched its first skateboard art project in collaboration with contemporary artist Guido Bisagni, known as 108. The unique skateboard, titled "108 per Skate Muzik," is priced at €1,200 and will be sold at Galleria Antonio Colombo in Milan. The artwork features three forms inspired by 1980s–90s graphics, part of a series Bisagni began two years ago on canvas, paper, and walls. Quagliano, a skateboarder, DJ, and music journalist, started Skate Muzik on Milan's Fritto FM before moving to Know Wave in New York and NTS Radio, based in London and Los Angeles. The program's merchandise is sold in select stores across Europe, Japan, and the United States, including Supreme's Brooklyn store—the only Italian brand there. The project echoes The Skateroom, a Belgian association that in 2016 produced skateboard decks by Ai Weiwei, Andy Hope, and Paul McCarthy to support Skateistan, a skateboarding school for underprivileged youth in Johannesburg. Quagliano chose not to mass-produce the 108 board, making it a unique piece intended to increase in value over time.
