Skate Culture Takes Over La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris
La Gaîté Lyrique, a multidisciplinary venue in Paris, presents its first major summer exhibition, 'Public Domaine,' from June 18 to August 7, 2011. Curated by a team of skateboarding enthusiasts including Vincent Carry, DJ Pedro Winter, and Morgan Bouvant, the show explores skateboarding as a lifestyle and aesthetic. Highlights include graphic designs from skateboard decks, videos like 'Greend' by Lucas Mancione and Nanda Fernandez-Brédillard, sculptures by Mark Gonzales, paintings by Benjamin Chasselon based on skate magazine covers, and a photo display by Thrasher magazine celebrating its 30th anniversary. The centerpiece is the PAS House by former champion Pierre-André Sénizergues, designed by Gil Le Bon Delapointe, featuring rounded interiors that are entirely skateable, including the stove.
