Six New Art Books: Vezzoli on Iolas, Corsini Monograph, and More
Six recently published art books are highlighted, covering a range of topics from a Francesco Vezzoli exhibition catalog on Alexander Iolas to a photographic work-in-progress by Albanian artist Nerina Toci. The catalog 'Casa Iolas. Citofonare Vezzoli' documents Vezzoli's exploration of the legendary Greek gallerist Alexander Iolas (1907-1987), who introduced Surrealism to the US and organized Andy Warhol's first solo show, and the looting of his Athens home's collection. The book 'Play & Design from Cameroon' presents 12 prototypes created by students of LABA – Libre Académie des Beaux-arts Douala, part of the CAMon! project funded by AICS and coordinated by COE, with photos by Stefano Graziani. 'Roma Nuda' by Giuseppe Armogida compiles over 60 interviews with Roman artists, accompanied by a DVD of city sounds and visions. Marco Pierini's monograph 'Vittorio Corsini. Portami con te' covers thirty years of Corsini's career, focusing on themes of dwelling, care, landscape, still life, threshold, and voices. Gaetano Castellini Curiel's 'Soft Power e l’arte della diplomazia culturale' traces cultural diplomacy's evolution, citing US use of jazz and Abstract Expressionism during the Cold War. Finally, 'Nerina Toci. Un seme di collina', curated by Davide di Maggio and published by Fondazione Mudima, features photographs from 2017-2020 in Sicily's Nebrodi mountains.
