Six New Art and Culture Books Released in May 2020

Artribune highlights six new publications released in May 2020, covering architecture, cinema, comics, and visual culture. The most comprehensive monograph on Eduardo Souto de Moura, curated by Francesco Dal Co and Nuno Graça Moura, features over 1,200 unpublished illustrations and coincides with the opening of the architect's archive in Matosinhos and an exhibition running until March 2021. Serafino Murri's 'Sign(s) of the times' explores the future of visual art through neuroscience, cybernetics, and digital realities, available from May 21. Gabriella Izzi Benedetti's 'Oltre il Neorealismo' offers an intimate dialogue with Renzo Rossellini about his father Roberto Rossellini's belief in television as an educational tool, citing series like 'L'età del ferro'. Two volumes from Corraini document the Ka art project of Matera 2019 and ArtePollino, including 'Ritratti di umanità' with writer Elvira Dones and illustrator Marco Cazzato. A new edition of Umberto Eco's 'Il nome della rosa' includes unpublished preparatory drawings and annotations, released 40 years after its first publication. Paco Roca's graphic novel 'Il tesoro del Cigno Nero' adapts diplomat Guillermo Corral's real-life story of a sunken treasure, published by Tunué.
