Six New Art and Culture Books for Summer Reading
A roundup of six recently published art and culture books in Italy. Matteo Boetti's third book about his father Alighiero Boetti, titled "Nomi Kawuki Asmo' Piaos But," will be previewed on July 10, 2021 at Galleria Tornabuoni Arte in Forte dei Marmi. It recounts a 1977 trip to Afghanistan, includes 55 poems by Matteo, and features contributions from artists and writers. "Grand Central Dream" by Stella Cervasio and Alessandro Vaccaro, illustrated by Giuseppe Cuccurullo, explores New York's Grand Central Terminal through literature, cinema, art, and history. Renato Rizzi and Andrea Tagliapietra's "Il segreto nel nome" is a short volume on the meaning of studying architecture in Italy. "Dante. La visione dell'arte" by Gianfranco Brunelli, Fernando Mazzocca, Antonio Paolucci, and Eike D. Schmidt reinterprets Dante through images from the 13th to 20th centuries. "Il segno di Ustica," edited by Andrea Mochi Sismondi, examines artistic responses to the 1980 Ustica massacre, featuring about 50 conversations with artists and intellectuals including Christian Boltanski. Finally, the revived Libri Scheiwiller imprint releases "Vendere o farsi comprare? Un marketing gentile per la cultura" by Maurizio Luvizone, a reflection on the economic valorization of art and culture.
