Six Italian architecture firms envision post-pandemic future

Artribune has gathered video contributions from six Italian architecture firms to discuss the future of architecture after the COVID-19 emergency. The initiative, coordinated by Valentina Silvestrini, aims to capture architects' perspectives on the pandemic's impact on work, urban space, and domestic life. Participants include It's (Alessandro Cambi, Francesco Marinelli, Paolo Mezzalama), Alvisi Kirimoto (Massimo Alvisi), PLUS ULTRA (Marco Di Nallo, Alessandra Castelbarco Albani), Giovanni Vaccarini Architetti, DFA Partners (Daniele Fiori), and MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects. Key themes include the shift to remote work, the need for flexible cities, the relationship between nature and artifice, and the importance of housing as welfare. Mario Cucinella advocates for a distributed healthcare system with community health centers. The series reflects on the absence of artists and architects from the government task force defining Italy's post-lockdown guidelines.
