Six Historic Milanese Palaces Reopen as Luxury Dining and Hospitality Venues

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Milan is witnessing a wave of high-profile restorations turning historic buildings into luxury hospitality and dining destinations. Casa Cipriani will open in Palazzo Bernasconi by late June 2022, with two restaurants, a boutique hotel, bar, spa, and fitness center, designed by Michele Bonan. The Fondazione Luigi Rovati's Museo Etrusco in Palazzo Bocconi-Rizzoli-Carraro will feature a restaurant by chef Andrea Aprea, designed by Mario Cucinella and Flaviano Capriotti. RH, an American luxury furniture brand, will open its first Italian flagship in Palazzo del Principe di Piombino, with a wine bar, Champagne & Caviar Lounge, and restaurant. Horto, a rooftop restaurant at The Medelan in Piazza Cordusio, brings chef Norbert Niederkofler's Cook the Mountain philosophy to Milan, with interiors using recycled materials. Casa Baglioni, a boutique hotel in Brera designed by Spagnuolo & Partners, will feature a restaurant by Claudio Sadler, inspired by 1960s avant-garde art. NH Collection has transformed the abandoned Chiesa del Cristo Re into a hotel with a rooftop pool and lounge bar, opening its restaurant to the public soon. These projects underscore Milan's ability to attract international investors committed to revitalizing architectural heritage.
