Six Artists Explore Empty Landscapes in Milan Group Show

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Galleria Artra in Milan hosts the group exhibition 'La solitudine dello spazio' (The Solitude of Space), curated by art historian and Artribune contributor Angela Madesani. The show features six artists from different generations and techniques—Cioni Carpi (1923-2011), Marco Neri (1968), Pier Paolo Curti (1972), Jacopo Valentini (1990), Marcello Maranzan (1999), and Luca Pancrazzi (1961)—who address the theme of open, desolate landscapes, both anthropized and natural, with a radical absence of the human figure. The exhibition creates a meditative atmosphere in the gallery's hypogeum space, offering visitors a respite from contemporary frenzy. Works include Carpi's impossible houses from his 'Città distanti' series, Neri's skyscrapers and Estonian flag, Curti's large canvases, Valentini's 'Unicacina' series documenting Prato's Chinese and Tuscan communities through their absence, Maranzan's architectural photographs (already sold and replaced during the show), and Pancrazzi's post-apocalyptic non-places. Madesani describes the theme as the solitude of the landscape, or rather the solitude of man in the landscape, with an ethical dimension that encourages reflection on nature and self. The exhibition runs until the end of February.
