Six artists collaborate with families in Latronico for community art project

exhibition · 2026-04-27

In Latronico, a town in Basilicata at the foot of the Pollino massif, the curatorial duo Bianco-Valente and Pasquale Campanella launched 'A Cielo Aperto in una stanza', a project supported by the Associazione Culturale Vincenzo De Luca. Six artists—Veronica Bisesti, Nicola Guastamacchia, Francesca Marconi, Patrizio Raso, Apo Yaghmourian, and Elena Zottola—were paired with six local families to create artworks based on shared experiences, memories, and traditions. Themes explored include pre-modern patriarchy, imagination versus materialism, travel, the power of words, nature, bees, and biodiversity. The resulting works will remain with the families, accessible to the public by request. The project culminates in a public presentation on August 18, 2022, at 5 PM in Piazzetta San Giovanni, Latronico. Organizers emphasize the community-centered approach, blending private and public spheres to foster co-creation and cultural identity.
