Six Artists Announced for Nordic Pavilion at Venice Biennale Group Exhibition Mirrored

Siri Aurdal, Nina Canell, Charlotte Johannesson, Jumana Manna, Pasi “Sleeping” Myllymäki, and Mika Taanila will participate in the group exhibition Mirrored at the Nordic Pavilion in Venice. The pavilion represents a collaborative effort between Sweden, Finland, and Norway, with each country taking turns as principal commissioner and manager from 2017 to 2021. For the 2017–2021 period, the art will be presented as a joint project where all three nations are represented equally, moving away from the previous format of solo commissions by each country in turn over the past three biennials. The announcement was made on 21 November 2016. Moderna Museet in Sweden will oversee activities in 2017, followed by Frame Contemporary Art Finland in 2019, and Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) in 2021. This shift marks a new approach to the pavilion's organization, emphasizing collective representation. The artists are based in various locations: Aurdal in Oslo, Norway; Canell and Manna in Berlin, Germany; Johannesson in Skanör, Sweden; Myllymäki in Hämeenlinna, Finland; and Taanila in Helsinki, Finland.
