Six architect-designed masserie and trulli in Puglia

Puglia remains a top summer destination in 2017, with a surge in high-end tourism. Archilovers highlights dream spots for evenings, dining, or overnight stays. Six architect-designed or renovated properties showcase local and international talent. Gaetano Pesce's Pescetrullo near Ostuni, created with Gabriele Pimpini, is a pioneering trullo rebuilt from scratch nearly a decade ago, now available for stays. Borgo Canonica in Cisternino, by Fiore & Venezia (Aldo Fiore and Rosanna Venezia), transformed 45 abandoned trulli into a luxury hotel after three years of work, using traditional materials. Masseria Moroseta in Ostuni, by Andrew Trotter, blends modern architecture with tradition, featuring glass and white volumes amid olive groves, resulting from three years of research and construction. Cinquevite in Polignano a Mare, opened in 2016, was designed by Esselle Associati (also behind Suite 10, Palazzo Calò in Bari, and Masseria Ciura in Massafra); it converts an early 1900s building into a tourist residence with a pool. Glass-Cube + Trulli in Ostuni, by Enrico Maria Cicchetti (Studio EMC Architect) in 2015, juxtaposes a contemporary glass cube with ancient olive trees and trulli. Il Cubonardo, also in Ostuni, by SB-Architettura, is a cubic structure commissioned by two Americans, preserving historic arches and a romantic interior with a minimalist touch.
