Sislej Xhafa's Public Art Project Invades Naples and Anacapri
Kosovo-born artist Sislej Xhafa (Pejë, 1970) has launched a public art project titled "Blue with No Sky" across Naples and Anacapri, as part of the Festival del Paesaggio 2025 (September 7 to November 3). The project includes a neon sign reading "Paradiso" (2003) installed in the gardens of Villa San Michele in Anacapri, the former residence of Axel Munthe now owned by Sweden. The work features a white table and two plastic chairs beneath an archway, with the word "Paradiso" suspended above. Additionally, Xhafa has placed poetic texts by authors Ali Podrimja, Luigi Socci, Sarande Haziri, Hortense Raynal, and Plator Gashi on the walls of Naples, using blue lettering. At the entrance of Villa San Michele, flags bearing a camera pictogram on white background replace national flags, symbolizing surveillance and conditional freedom. Xhafa stated that the project "carries poetry out of books, exposes it to wind and gazes, offers it as a daily gesture of resistance and fragility." The initiative is curated by Cristiana Colli.
