Sislej Xhafa's Kosovo Exhibition Explores Belonging and Circular Time

Sislej Xhafa's exhibition 'Love you without knowing' at the National Gallery of Kosovo in Prishtina runs until August 25, 2018. Curated by Jerome Sans, the show features 15 works spanning from 1998 to 2018, including 'Piazza della Signoria' (1998), 'Stock Exchange' and 'Future of Old' (2001), 'Merely' (2005), 'Sunshade' and 'Barka' (2011), and 'Woven soil' (2018) with eight cows in a temporary space. A performance of 'Again and again' with the Gjakova City Ensemble playing Samuel Barber's 'Adagio for Strings' took place at the Parliament building. Xhafa, born in Peja in 1970, represented Kosovo at the 2017 Venice Biennale with 'Lost And Found', a work referencing a pool with 12 squirrels. The exhibition is described as a 'tribute to love' and an introspective process rather than a retrospective, emphasizing circular time and cultural sharing across local and global contexts.
