Sislej Xhafa's 'Blu Blossom' Transforms ATM into Nest in Mallorca
Sislej Xhafa (Pejë, 1970) created 'Blu Blossom' during a two-month residency at Deja in Mallorca. The project repurposes an ATM shell as a nest, placed in the highest point of a tree frequented by birds. The work explores themes of migration, exchange, nature-culture dialogue, and the tension between digital money and materiality. Xhafa also produced 'Hola,' 265 fabric squares imprinted with his hand in a greeting gesture, made from hotel linens and gifted to local workers. The residency involved readings from current affairs to Saint Augustine and Yourcenar, with Room 15 serving as a monastic cell and studio. The project reflects on individual and collective freedom, social structures, and ecosystems. Cristiana Colli reported for Artribune.
