Siren Festival 2018: Public Image Ltd Headline in Vasto

The Siren Festival in Vasto, Abruzzo, held from July 26 to 29, 2018, featured Public Image Ltd (PiL) as the Saturday headliner. The festival, now in its fifth year, is a fixture of central Italy's summer indie music scene, with stages in the historic center and at Siren Beach. Saturday's lineup included Spielbergs, Mèsa, Rodrigo Amarante, dEUS, Bud Spencer Blues Explosion, and PiL. PiL, formed in 1978 from the ashes of the Sex Pistols, played a set blending post-punk and new wave, including songs like "This is not a love song" and "Rise." Johnny Lydon, the frontman, performed with a doom-laden, decadent punk style, supported by unconventional instruments such as mandolin and electric double bass. The festival also featured a Sunday concert at the Duomo di Vasto, dedicated to San Giuseppe, with a medieval façade and 14th-century rose window.
