Sipeki Balás Villa Renovated by Atelier dmb in Hungary
Atelier dmb has finalized the renovation and expansion of the Sipeki Balás Villa in Hungary, a structure initially crafted by Ödön Lechner from 1905 to 1907. This project, which spans 2000 m² and includes a new service building, was completed in 2024. The villa now serves as the headquarters for the Hungarian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, which has owned the property for nearly a century. The extension features a ground floor for association services and an event hall capable of accommodating 300 people above. The design was led by architects Balázs Falvai, Nagy Márton, and Török Dávid, with input from Bettina Ónodi, Tünde Fekete, Angéla Soltész, Ábel Györgyi, and Megyesi Miklós. Structural engineering was handled by Ákos Medek of medek kft., while MEP was managed by Gyula Zoárd Mangel of Mangép Mangel kft., and landscape architecture was designed by Edina Massány of Open-Air. This endeavor is categorized under healthcare architecture and renovation.
