Singer D4vd charged with murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez
D4vd, a 21-year-old alt-pop artist named David Burke, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Her dismembered and decaying remains were found in September inside Burke's seemingly abandoned Tesla in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office disclosed the charges on Monday, noting that Hernandez had been reported missing by her family in 2024 at the age of 13, and was considered a runaway at the time of her death. The murder charges include special circumstances such as lying in wait and murdering a witness, which could lead to the death penalty, although prosecutors have not yet decided on that. Burke also faces charges for lewd acts with a minor and body mutilation. After his arrest on Thursday at a Hollywood home, Burke's attorneys asserted his innocence. In Lake Elsinore, California, mourners have been leaving tributes at a memorial for Hernandez.
