Singapore's Art Scene: Multiple Exhibitions Explore Colonial Legacies, Identity, and Place
The National Gallery in Singapore is showcasing 'Artist and Empire: (En)countering Colonial Legacies' until March 26, in partnership with Tate Britain, which explores the impact of British imperialism from the 16th century onward. Until August 31, Danh Vo's sculptures that delve into cross-cultural identity are displayed in the Ng Teng Fong roof garden gallery. The Singapore Biennale 2016 will wrap up on February 26, featuring more than 60 artists in 'Atlas of Mirrors'. Htein Lin's solo exhibition at Yavuz Gallery, reflecting on his experiences as a political prisoner in Myanmar, is available until March 5. 'The Bizarre Honour' at OH! Open House closes on February 26, while Amanda Heng's bean sprout workshop is scheduled for February 25. Chun Kai Qun's 'Solid Prayers' concludes on February 19. 'Native Revisions' is ongoing until April 12, 'Once upon a Time in Little India' is available until July 21, and 'Buaya' at NUS Museum runs through July 15.
