Sin Wai Kin's first Dutch solo show at Frans Hals Museum in 2026

exhibition · 2026-05-22

From May 22 to August 30, 2026, the Frans Hals Museum will host "Sin Wai Kin: Still Life," marking the artist's first solo show in the Netherlands. This exhibition will showcase Sin's video art alongside 17th-century masterpieces from the museum's own collection, exploring themes like symbolism, drag, and science fiction. Sin Wai Kin, who was born in Toronto in 1991, creates dynamic visual narratives that challenge cultural stories through art history and pop culture, often using elaborate makeup and costumes. In 2022, Sin was nominated for the Turner Prize, with works displayed at prestigious venues like Tate Modern and the British Museum. The museum has also acquired Sin's video "Tell me everything you saw and what you think it means" (2018), which will feature in the 2024 show "The Art of Drag."
