Simulacres: Art That Blurs Reality at Les Magasins Généraux

The exhibition 'Simulacres' is currently on display at Les Magasins Généraux in Pantin, France, until September 27. This showcase investigates how modern artists challenge the lines between reality and illusion. It features pieces that utilize hyperrealism, perceptual tricks, digital reproductions, and AI-created visuals, prompting viewers to reconsider their ability to tell truth from deception. Curated by Anna Labouze and Keimis Henni, the exhibition includes works from 19 artists, such as Pauline Bastard, Laura Bottereau & Marine Fiquet, and Arinze Stanley, whose 'Fruits of Labour' (2022) is among the highlights. Established by BETC in 2017, Les Magasins Généraux is a cultural hub located in a 1930s industrial space along the Canal de l'Ourcq, providing free programming throughout the year.
