Simplex adopts Codex and ChatGPT Enterprise to transform software development

Simplex, a technology partner in consulting, systems development, and operations, has adopted ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex as its primary coding agent to accelerate AI-native development. After establishing a center of excellence in 2023 following ChatGPT's 2022 launch, the company quantitatively measured generative AI's impact, achieving a 40% reduction in hours to design each screen, 70% fewer hours to develop each screen, and 17% fewer hours for internal integration testing. Codex is used beyond code generation, including front and back-end code generation from design documents, test creation, review and remediation for nonfunctional requirements, and fixes for integration issues. Simplex is also validating automated workflows with Codex CLI. The company chose Codex for its balance of cost, accuracy, and functionality, and to accumulate usage know-how efficiently. Ujihiro notes that Codex converts design know-how and review expertise into repeatable organizational advantage, allowing people to focus on final decisions and accountability. Simplex is redesigning the development process around AI, exploring an approach that defines rules up front and improves quality through repeated integration and automated evaluation. The company sees potential for Codex to generate products automatically from RFPs for simple systems.
