Simone Post's candy chandeliers melt in Venetian palazzo for Biennale

Simone Post, a Dutch artist, has unveiled 'She Knew She/It/They Would Melt', a unique installation crafted entirely from candy, located within the historic Palazzo Contarini Polignac in Venice. This piece is featured in 'Still Joy – From Ukraine into the World', an official collateral event of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, organized by the PinchukArtCentre and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. The installation reimagines chandeliers, decorative items, and family portraits using lollipops, sweets, and marshmallows, reflecting on themes of domestic memory, childhood dreams, and emotional resilience. The exhibition incorporates narratives from Hlib Stryzhko, a Ukrainian marine, veteran, and former POW, highlighting joy as a profound human trait amidst conflict. Post, an alumna of Design Academy Eindhoven, explores memory and decay through textiles, ceramics, and sculpture.
