Simone Massi's animated film 'Invelle' hits Italian cinemas

Simone Massi's debut feature-length animated film 'Invelle' will be released in Italian cinemas on August 29, 2024, distributed by Lucky Red. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival in the Orizzonti section, where it received the Premio Carlo Lizzani from Italian exhibitors. It has since screened at Alice nella Città and over 15 international and Italian festivals, winning multiple awards. Massi, born in Pergola (PU) on May 23, 1970, still lives in a rural farmhouse in the Marche hills. A former factory worker, he studied at the Scuola del Libro di Urbino and hand-drew every frame of his films. Before 'Invelle', his animations were selected at festivals in 75 countries and won over 300 prizes, including a David di Donatello, three Nastri d'Argento, and a Premio Flaiano for animation in the documentary 'La strada dei Samouni', which won the Œil d'Or at Cannes 2018. 'Invelle' is a rural family epic spanning three generations: Zelinda in 1918, Assunta in 1943, and Icaro in 1978. The film features voice work by Ascanio Celestini, Mimmo Cuticchio, Luigi Lo Cascio, Neri Marcorè, Toni Servillo, and Filippo Timi.
