Simone Brewster's PLATFORM exhibition at Design Museum London explores design as cultural narrative

architecture-design · 2026-03-20

The Design Museum in London has launched PLATFORM, the inaugural museum exhibition by Simone Brewster, which will be open until 27 January 2027. This showcase is divided into four sections: Passages, Everyday Ornaments, Scales of Emotion, and Body Narratives, featuring functional items. Among Brewster's notable works are the Ebony Revolution jewelry and the newly presented bench titled "Negrita," both of which challenge societal views while drawing on African diaspora heritage. Established in 1989 and moved to its current location in November 2016, the museum also presents exhibitions such as Wes Anderson: The Archives. Curator Hadeel Eltayeb highlights the storytelling depth in Brewster's creations, which aim to influence how we perceive the world.
