Simone Bossi's Photographic Cavern Explores Light and Metaphor in Rome
Italian photographer Simone Bossi (born 1985 in Varese) presents a series of ten photographs at the Divario gallery in Rome. The works focus on a natural cave, using découpage and cinematic montage techniques to maximize expressive power. Bossi, trained as an architect, blends lightness, verticality, and geometry with artistic freedom through light play and indeterminate detail. The cave serves as a metaphorical and conceptual space, referencing Plato's allegory of the cave as a place of knowledge, as well as Freud and Jung's notions of the unconscious and primal drives. Each image is a fragment of a broader mosaic mapping human potential, including the mysterious 'dark side' of personality. The exhibition is curated by Niccolò Lucarelli, who also wrote the accompanying text.
