Simone Berti Presents Three Video Animations at Biennale Bregaglia 2026
Italian painter and video artist Simone Berti is participating in the 2026 Biennale Bregaglia with three video animations: Cervo, Stambecco, and Urogallo. The works are installed across three historic sites in the Swiss valley: Stalla Martinenga barn and Casa dei Pastori in Stampa, and the Church Nossa Dona in Promontogno. Berti's animated installations blend Renaissance, Surreal, and Abstract painting styles to evoke an imagined 'elsewhere'. The artist studied at Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, Kingston University in London, and the A. Ratti Foundation in Como under J. Kosuth. He has collaborated with galleries including Massimo De Carlo (Milan), Galerie Analix Forever (Geneva), Galleria Continua (Rome), and Federica Schiavo Gallery (Rome). His work has been shown internationally at institutions such as the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation (Turin), Palazzo Grassi (Venice), MAXXI (Rome), MACRO (Rome), Baths of Diocletian (Rome), GaMEC (Bergamo), Whitechapel Art Gallery (London), MOCA (Chicago), Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Kunstmuseum Bonn, SMAK (Ghent), Fundación PROA (Buenos Aires), and Hara Museum (Tokyo). He has also exhibited at the 7th Istanbul Biennial, the 52nd Venice Biennale, and Manifesta 3 in Ljubljana. The Biennale Bregaglia runs from July 12, 2026.
