Simon Vincenzi's 'In The Carnival Of The Void' at FESTA in Bologna

On May 10, 2026, choreographer and theater director Simon Vincenzi presented 'In The Carnival Of The Void' in the underground parking lot of the Bologna Fair, commissioned by Xing for the FESTA program. The performance, lasting about two hours, began with a monkey-masked man in a white van trying to catch cosmic signals. A water blast initiated a procession into the dark parking lot. Performers included Luis Guerra, who performed a primordial dance. The work featured objects like underwear, black flags, masks, and whisky bottles, and ended with a van marked 'FORGET' and beer for the audience. FESTA is a series of live art commissions exploring the concept of 'festival' in non-functional spaces, curated by Xing. An earlier preview, 'Intercity Notte' by Vincent Giampino, took place at Raum in Bologna in January 2026. Future events will occur in Bologna, Turin, Cesena, Riola, Florence, and Milan through 2026-2027, featuring artists Riccardo Benassi, Claudia Castellucci, Michele Rizzo, Mårten Spångberg, Ashes Withyman, and Cristina Kristal Rizzo.
